How to make an "Octopus" as Fancy dress for kids

Recently i made an octopus model for my nephew...
Let me describe my style of making it:

What you need?
Just the following simple things:

1. Cardboard
    (a) Thick (Quantity- 1)
    (b) Thin (Quantity - 1)

2. White Chart Paper (Quantity- 2)

3. Two favorite color paints (any two colors that you want your octopus to be)

4. Fevicol (or glue)

5. Scissors/ Black permanent marker/ paint brush/ pencil/ eraser

How to make it?

1. Draw a rough diagram of how your octopus has to look like in a notebook or paper.

2. Draw the face of the octopus
First, take the white chart paper and draw the octopus face on it, big enough to 'almost'occupy the entire chart.

3. Cut the shape out of the chart
Take a scissors and cut carefully the shape of the Octopus face from the chart.

4. Draw tentacles.
Now, draw tentacles on the chart paper and cut the shapes of the tentacles from the chart paper carefully to keep the shape intact.
Cut six to eight tentacles and arrange the tentacles one by one as you cut below the already cut Octopus face; to check the size of the tentacles.

5. Stick the cut tentacles and the Octopus shape on the card board.
After sticking the shapes, cut out the cardboard around the chart shape to get a solid tentacle and Octopus face.

Draw circles adjacent to each other on 2 of the tentacles as shown below with pencil.

6. Paint on the cardboard tentacles the paint color you chose.
I chose Blue and Orange colors. Paint blue color on the tentacles.

Paint 'blue' color on the tentacles and fill the circles drawn on the two tentacles with 'orange' color as shown below, to show the contrast.

Paint the face of the octopus little dramatically. If you are not so good at painting, you can just paint entirely with the selected two colors by smudging them together.

Keep painting untill it looks complete like this:

7. Draw the eyes using the black permanent marker.

Some details can be added towards the end like this:
Assemble all the completed octopus head and tentacles together

Measure the kid's face and cut out a rectangle on the octopus head in the center and make a window.
Remember that, the hole in the center must be big enough to let the child 'comfortably' insert his/her head inside and peep out.

 8. Stick the tentacles to the Octopus head.
After cutting the hole in the center, start sticking the tentacles.
You can either use a fevicol and cello tape; or...
To be safer; You can cut out chart paper strips and stick the chart paper strips on top of the already stuck tentacles to keep it strong.

Stick all the tentacles with the chart paper strips in the following way:
Stick a chart paper strip on the top of the window so that the cracked card board will not break; when the child puts the head inside.

9. Octopus is ready!
After sticking all the tentacles, turn the octopus around; to find a complete octopus; and the kid is ready to take it to school! :)

Another model of Octopus with lesser tentacles but bigger head...

Hope you have a nice time making it!
